From
the Sun Early days, a bluesy thing that was originally recorded in 1954.
Elvis' version, like his other Sun Tunes, was unique; a hiccoughing, yodelling gem, with the verses dragged out and twisted to suit his style and Scotty & Bill on top of every note. Elvis' country roots are also evident in this romantic ballad, as well as his vocal dynamics, when he curls his voice low for the refrains. Released in March 1956 on both the double EP and the LP titled Elvis Presley, before being released on single by RCA. |

This
was from the first commercial recording session at Sun Records, an elementary
ballad that was recorded in four takes.
Sam Phillips spliced together takes four and two to give this disjointed version. Which was originally released in March 1956 on the LP Elvis Presley and then as this B-side in September. Years later Scotty Moore revealed in an interview that the first take had never been released. RCA then released take one in 1974, twenty years after its original recording, on the LP A Lagendary Performer Vol 1. |
