An oddly melancholic song for that period, both in vocal texture and arrangement. |

Glen

Elvis' version is not unlike Nelson's version right down to the guitar solo by James Burton, the reason being that Burton was a member of the Rick Nelson band and had played on the 1963 recording as well as this one. |

Recorded
for Wild In The Country but never used in the film, this is a simple
ballad with a C&W flavour and a lone acoustic guitar.
Elvis lilts over the lyrics making it a lovely track and although it was recorded in 1960 it was not released until RCA found room for it in 1965. |

Elvis
did a studio version of Kris' plaintive country number in March 1972
at MGM Recording Studios in Los Angeles, that was however never released
by RCA.
He performed it live at the famous Madison Square garden gig, done stylishly with gentle Burton guitar work and The Stamps coming up behind, a starkly sad number injected into the Garden's festivities. Also in the On Tour movie, Elvis is shown warbling a verse or two with the boys coming away from the concert, he obviously liked this one. |

Complete with strings and the Imperials and The Jordanaires mixed way in the background. A live recording was made and included on the album Madison Square Gardens on the 10th June 1972. Another excellent perfromance is featured in the Elvis On Tour Movie. |
